CHAYAN–2025: A Historic National Convention for the Right to Choose

CHAYAN–2025, a national convention of organizations working to promote the Right to Choose, inter-caste marriages, and inter-religious marriages, was successfully organized by Kula Nirmulana Sangham (Casteless Society of India) in November 2025. The convention brought together representatives from nearly 20 organizations from different states across India, creating a unique national platform for dialogue, solidarity, and collective action against caste discrimination, honour-based violence, and restrictions on personal liberty.

Expressing deep concern over the continued occurrence of such caste-driven crimes, KNS reiterated that no individual should lose their life for exercising a fundamental freedom guaranteed by the Constitution of India.

Billipuram Nagaraju: A Life Lost to Caste and Religious Hatred, A Movement Strengthened by the Pursuit of Justice

The brutal murder of Billipuram Nagaraju on 4 May 2022 in Hyderabad remains one of the most painful reminders of the violence that continues to be inflicted upon couples who choose to marry across caste and religious boundaries. Nagaraju, a young Dalit who married Syed Ashrin Sultana, was murdered in broad daylight in the Saroornagar area by individuals who opposed their marriage. His killing was not merely an attack on one individual—it was an attack on the Constitution of India, the Right to Choose, and the fundamental values of liberty, equality, and human dignity.
